RElational Psychotherapy in Massachusetts
It’s time to reconnect to yourself.
Rebecca patt, licsw
You're here because you know there’s more to living than just surviving.
You're tired of those critical inner voices. The ones that tell you that you don’t matter, you’re not good enough, or there’s something “wrong” with you. You may be hoping there’s something out there that can “fix” this once and for all.
But here’s my take on it: you don’t need fixing, because you’re not broken.
How I work
At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that you don’t need fixing.
Struggling with a critical inner voice, grappling with uncertainty about what you need and want, and feeling disconnected from yourself - these aren’t signs of brokenness. They’re evidence of survival.
If you’ve had early life experiences in which your emotional needs weren’t acknowledged or cared for, you may have developed some ways of enduring that environment. While those strategies served a vital purpose back then, they’re getting in the way of living your life now.
My hope for each client I work with is that they are able to cultivate a more compassionate and nurturing inner voice. Often, this doesn’t happen quickly or easily. But know this: I’m committed to walking alongside you as we work together to get you there.
HEre’s what I believe about therapy:
It’s all about the relationship.
As a relational therapist, I care deeply about working with you to build a relationship in which you feel empowered to “dig deep.” And I also know it can take some time to get there. We’ll always go at your pace and address any stuck points along the way.
It’s more than just talking.
Don’t get me wrong - we’ll totally be talking about whatever you want to address. But staying attuned to you, noticing emotional shifts, and inviting you to come into the present moment to observe what’s coming up for you, are key aspects of my practice.
Healing is a journey, not a destination.
I know, I know. This part sounds like a corny Hallmark card. But I really do believe it. My work as a therapist, and my own experiences in therapy, have taught me that as we continue to live life and have new experiences, we also find new opportunities for growth and healing.
